As I am sure you know a large majority of the world spend their days feeling stressed, anxious, tired, hungry, angry…. Do you hear any positive affirming words in there? No; that is because the percentage of these people that choose to be happy, laugh, feel positively, is so narrow and slim. It is hard to see that people choose negativity over happiness; we tend to revel in the positive experiences, and repress the negative experiences and feelings, thus burying them. Instead we should be paying more attention to these internal experiences so we can understand where this negativity is coming from and how we can overcome it! Your mental and physical health can severely affect your business or job, your home life, your relationships, and I feel that embracing and tackling this negativity is what ultimately will lead you to mental, emotional, and physical freedom.
It can take a long time to learn how to change negative habits, right? Well, I am here to tell you that it doesn’t have too. We CAN turn bad habits into good ones; after all we spend our lives so easily saying things like ; this day is stressful, I am angry, I hate my job, nothing good ever happens to me, ‘that’ will never happen to me, no one likes me….shall I continue? I bet even reading each and every one of those makes you cringe, because you have probably said one, two, or most of them. On a DAILY basis. Let’s try something else. I want you to say each of the below out loud. No matter how strange and silly it feels, no matter what kind of mood you’re in right now. You can do this.
- I am intelligent
- I am having a wonderful day
- Life is so awesome
- I am really good at what I do in my job
- I have fabulous friends and they love being around me
- Everything good always happens to me
- I am so successful
I am sure it felt strange, foreign, and annoying to hear all those things. This is because we have trained our brains to shelter us and tell us what we think is the appropriate thing rather than embracing bravery and telling ourselves the absolute truth about who we are; brave, amazing, resilient, wonderful, jubilant ( isn’t that a great word!?), happy, successful; the list is endless.
Your mental, emotional, and physical health all play factors in how you perceive and treat yourself. In order to change these perceptions you must start making changes. Remember, change is good! It could lead you to the fulfilling life that you deserve! What small change you choose to make will start to improve your quality of life, and you will be amazed at how you feel.
