With everything that is going on in the world these days it is very hard to remain optimistic, then we add our daily struggles and private issues we are dealing with and it often feels like moving through mud. “How can I see the light through all the darkness ” is something you may be asking yourself.

But how do I embrace positivity, Erin? ”  It really is annoyingly easy, ha! Everything we do in life is a choice, so as hard as it is to accept, the pessimism, hard days, depression, anxiety; those are all choices that we make, many are  unconscious choices as these are habits we have trained our minds to get into. If we so easily train our minds to be negative, than we should easily be able to train our minds to be positive! * hey, you that is shaking your head at me, it’s true ! *  🙂 Here are some tips and tricks to help to get rid of that stinkin’ thinkin’ and get on a more positive path!

  • Start every day with a positive; as an example you can start with : Today is going to be a great day! Even if you do not feel it, say it! This is how we retrain our brains!
  • Do something nice for a friend. It could be as simple as a phone call to chat, or a card in the mail, but doing positive things for others can really help your mental well being, and feeling good about something you did will help you remain positive.
  • My husband and I like to do this little thing around our house called : Mental health day. We stay in our pajamas, watch movies, disconnect from our phones and enjoy our favorite foods. Taking a day or two to really focus on you is super important and will keep those positive vibes going!

There are many other ways to keep the positive train chugga chugga choo-ing, but that does not mean you will not have bad days too, and it is important to embrace the fact that you are human. The key is to turn some of those bad days into good. We are what we do, meaning if you decide life is constantly bad, it will be! Let’s change our thinking and learn to shine positivity for the best possible life we can live!
